Albert was the som of Mr and Mrs W.R. Laurent of Hautapu, Cambridge. He was the husband of Nellie Davoren Laurent, known as Nell, (nee Reese), and the father of five children including Margaret, Judith and Paul.

Before joining the RNZAF he worked as a herd tester bit had moved home in 1840 to become a sharemilker on his father's 115 acre Hautapu farm, milking 90 cows and managing other livestock. Albert had been in front of the Appeals Board a couple of times and was granted appeals against Army conscription as his father was unable to work due to a back injury. Albert was also in the Cambridge Home Guard

Service Details: Albert had been attested for RNZAF service as early as June 1941, and fibally enlisted at RNZAF Station Harewood, Christchurch, as an ACH (AD) on the 19th of June 1943. Nothing more is yet known,
