Date of Birth: Claire was born on the 14th of February 1919
Personal Details: Claire was the daughter of Mr and Mrs B.N. Garland of Brookdale, Karapiro, Cambridge. She was the sister of Norma Garland.

She was a debutante at the Polo Club ball in the Cambridge Town Hall in June 1937.

She became engaged to Ian William Brunskill, a farmer from Whitehall, Cambridge, in October 1941. Ian served in the New Zealand Army during WWII (possibly in an Anti-Aircraft unit in the Middle East?). Claire and Ian were married in St Andrews Church, Cambridge, on the 8th of January 1944, whilst Ian was home on Furlough.

Service Details: Clare enlisted with the Woman's Auxiliary Air Force at Hamilton, probably at the RNZAF Recruiting Office within the Hamilton General Post office, on the 16th of November 1942.

Died: 16th of December 1986

Connection with Cambridge: Claire grew up at Brookdale, Karapiro, in the Cambridge district, and continued to live here after the war.
