Waikato Independendent reports that mention W. Herring

Note: This name, W. Herring, has proven something of a red herring! The newspaper lists a W. Herring as having joined up in 1940 from Wilkinson and Co, but I can find nothing more on this man. I have consulted Mrs Joan Epps who worked at Wilkinsons garage for the duration of the war and she is certain that no-one by the name of Herring worked there.

I suggest tht this name is erroneous, and is a mistake on the part of the newspaper. However, I have added the page in case anyone can prove otherwise. If you can, please contact me
